March delivered a definite relief that the Pendraken painting competition’s deadline had passed and I could return to painting wargames units again. The first unit to be finished was a light infantry unit painted as the 10th Regiment. The unit is made up of 36 figures (minus one to accommodate the mounted colonel) to be based on six bases. I painted the rolled greatcoats a tan colour and gave these a brush with Army Painter QuickShade soft tone. The unit has six carabiniers and six voltigeurs.
I had wanted to paint my first light infantry unit as Fririon’s 3e Legere that defended the village of Essling. However, I decided to go with the figures’ pointed cuffs and paint them as the most likely regiment to have had pointed cuffs at Aspern-Essling. Meanwhile rather hoping that Pendraken would resolve this issue. Fingers crossed. Or there’s a lot of figure converting coming up.
