This diagram shows my planned tabletop for the Battle of Aspern-Essling at 1mm to 2.5m. The tabletop is 2.4m x 1.2m (8’x4’) with an optional extension section. It is roughly marked out in a grid the size of my terrain tiles. A Google Earth satellite photograph is overlaid with a map of 1875. Clearly visible are Aspern and Essling and the road linking the villages, the Stadtler arm of the Danube and the Mühlau salient. There is also evidence of many more earthworks than would not have been there in 1809. This tabletop assumes the French being mainly on the defensive. Alternatively, area to the south could be given up to provide space to the north for French attacks on the Austrian line. 1mm = 2.5m1 (200mm) tile = ½km
